Suze Yalof Schwartz is the most energetic, upbeat person I know. She spent her career in fashion doing makeovers for Glamour magazine and the Today Show, but when she moved from New York City to Los Angeles she found she needed a makeover of her own.

Suze, a mother of three boys, likes to say she was “living on the to-do list,” and yearned for a daily relaxation ritual. Her mother-in-law recommended meditation, but none of the private lessons or studios Suze sampled felt right.

“Everything was too inaccessible, too inconvenient, or too expensive,” she says. “I wanted a place I would go, a Dry Bar for meditation.”

So she opened Unplug Meditation last March, designing the pristine Wilshire studio herself on Pinterest (she bought the foam core letters at Staples and found the chairs online). Never one to settle for anything but the best, Suze hired yogi Steve Ross to help vet teachers.

Five daily 30-minute classes, each class is $20. Unplug Meditation, 12401 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 101, Los Angeles, CA. 310-826-8899 www.unplugmeditation.com
